The annual bulletin “Trade Exchange between Egypt and the Most Important East Asian Countries” for the year 2022 showed a development in the value of foreign trade “exports and imports” with the most important East Asian countries,

The value of exports to East Asian countries increased to $7.7 billion in 2022, compared to $6.6 billion in 2021, an increase of 15.9%.

The total value of imports from East Asian countries reached $26.8 billion in 2022, compared to $25.8 billion in 2021, an increase of 3.9%.

The list of countries includes: “Malaysia - People’s Republic of China - India - Taiwan - Japan - Indonesia - Pakistan - Thailand - South Korea - Singapore - Bangladesh.”

South Korea came in first place for exports, reaching $2 billion in 2022, compared to $0.6 billion in 2021, an increase of 220%, and the most important items exported to South Korea were liquefied natural gas. India came in second place with a value of $1.9 billion in 2022 compared to $2.0 billion in 2021, a decrease of 6.5%, and the most important items exported to India were crude oil.

The People's Republic of China ranked first for imports, with a value of $14.42 billion in 2022, compared to $14.40 billion in 2021, a decrease of 0.2%. The most important items imported were machinery, electrical appliances and their parts. India came in second place with a value of $4.1 billion in 2022 compared to $3.2 billion in 2021, an increase of 26.4%. The most important items imported were meat, edible entrails and limbs, iron and its products, and organic and inorganic chemical products.

The group of fuel, petroleum products, and extractive industry products came in first place for exports in 2021 and 2022, as its value reached $5.5 billion in 2022 compared to $4.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 22.4%. The group of machinery, automatic and electrical appliances, transportation equipment and their parts came in first place for imports in the years 2022 and 2021, as its value reached $8.6 billion in 2022 compared to $10.0 billion in 2021, a decrease of 14.0%.
