Increase in Daily Transaction Limits for Payment Cards and Mobile Phone Services by the Central Bank of Egypt

The Central Bank of Egypt increased the daily and monthly limits for financial transactions through bank accounts that support financial inclusion, in addition to prepaid payment cards and mobile payment services.

The Central Bank stated in a statement today, Wednesday, that the services provided include all operations related to withdrawals, transfers, payments, purchases, and discounts. These services include:

  • For ordinary individuals:

The bank sets the maximum account balance.

Daily maximum: 60,000 pounds instead of 30,000 pounds.

Monthly maximum: 200,000 pounds instead of 100,000 pounds.

  • *- For companies and micro-enterprises that have documents or headquarters or are verified using other means, Category (A):**

  • The bank sets the maximum account balance.
  • Daily maximum: 80,000 pounds instead of 40,000 pounds.
  • Monthly maximum: 400,000 pounds instead of 200,000 pounds

- For small businesses, artisans, and self-employed workers who do not have documents or a fixed place of work and whose identity cannot be verified by any means, but who carry out economic activities and are classified under category (B) for economic activities:**

  • The maximum balance allowed by the bank is determined.

Daily maximum: 60,000 pounds instead of 30,000 pounds.

Monthly maximum: 200,000 pounds instead of 100,000 pounds.*
