The two companies announced their collaboration with Tsinghua University and Cernet.com to create the world's first Internet network that provides a "stable and reliable" connection at a speed of 1.2 terabits per second, which is several times faster than the Internet speeds known around the world.

Tsinghua University began trials of the new network on July 31, and it has successfully passed many tests. This project is classified as the first project of its kind by the university, because it relies entirely on local technology.

According to a report published by Bloomberg, China's official news agency, Xinhua, stated that the newly created network operates using core technologies locally owned by China.
